1954 | Masao Nagai, a pioneer of carbon, successfully solved a production problem caused by abnormal wear of mechanical seals installed in foreign-made pumps at a refinery in Yokohama by applying a carbon ring he developed himself. |
1955/5 | After being recommended by a customer, he founded Carbon Research Institute Co., Ltd. We immediately began manufacturing carbon rings, the heart of mechanical seals. Shortly thereafter, at the suggestion of a customer, we began manufacturing mechanical seals. |
1959/5 | The company was renamed Tanken Kogyo Co., Ltd. |
1964/5 | The company was renamed Tanken Seiko Co., Ltd. As new plants are being built and expanded, our sincere response to all mechanical seal problems has been highly praised, and our adoption has expanded rapidly. At the same time, we have established a nationwide technical service network. |
