Split type periaxial seal
"ABC Seal"
Excellent sealing performance, split type for easy maintenance
Product Summary
This is a split type periaxial seal.
By combining two ABC rings, each made up of separate pieces, and supplying purge gas, it provides excellent sealing performance.

How the product works
ABC Seal structure and sealing method
The ABC Seal is made up of a set of two types of ABC rings divided into segment shapes. The main ring is placed on the flange side and the auxiliary ring is placed on the side spring side, and they are integrated with a garter spring and attached to the shaft and sleeve. This configuration is the basic unit and is called a single seal.
The auxiliary ring and main ring are positioned so that their split sections do not overlap, limiting leakage from the split sections and improving sealing performance. The side spring is positioned on the high pressure side and serves to keep the ring end face in constant contact with the flange end face. A pair of rings is pressed against the flange end face, shaft and sleeve by the pressure of the sealing fluid itself, providing sealing performance. The design does not rely solely on spring force for sealing performance, and is soft to the touch and has excellent shaft followability.
*The ABC Seal can only respond to pressure in one direction, so care must be taken when arranging it to avoid reverse pressure. Depending on the equipment and conditions of use, it can be broadly divided into a single seal type and a double seal type in which two sets of single seals are arranged symmetrically.
Single seal method
It is used for gases and liquids where the pressure at the seal area is only positive or negative.
Typical application examples
machinepressureSummary
BlowerConstant negative pressureTo limit air leakage into the aircraft
Constant positive pressureWhen a small amount of cabin gas is permitted to leak into the atmosphere
PumpsConstant negative pressureTo limit air leakage into the aircraft
Constant positive pressureWhen small amounts of cabin fluid are permitted to leak into the atmosphere
*It is necessary to consider whether there is dust in the air or slurry in the liquid.
Double seal system
It is used when gas purging is performed in the middle chamber of the double seal to prevent the fluid inside the machine from leaking into the atmosphere.
Typical application examples
Blower/Vertical Agitator
Powder Equipment - Horizontal Agitator
To prevent leakage of handled fluids into the atmosphere
Other When the pressure in the seal area changes between positive and negative pressure
*Purge gas pressure: Set to a pressure 0.01 to 0.03 MPa higher than the internal pressure of the machine.

Introduction example
Elimination of leakage
  • In powder equipment using conventional gland packing, product leakage was a frequent occurrence.
  • To address this issue, we proposed introducing the ABC Seal.
  • As a result, leakage was completely eliminated and maintenance costs were significantly reduced.
  • Furthermore, the working environment has been significantly improved and the use of grease and lubricants has become unnecessary, contributing to environmental conservation.
Product stabilization
  • Oil seals were used in screw conveyors that operate toner for copy machines and printers.
  • However, toner that gets into the sealing part of the oil seal becomes clumpy due to the heat from the friction of rotation, and differences in the particle size of the toner cause uneven printing.
  • By introducing ABC Seal, contamination of the product was eliminated, product precision was improved, and a long-standing problem was resolved.
As an auxiliary seal for Quenching
  • Conventional auxiliary seals for quenching have a large clearance with the shaft, which caused a large amount of quenching water to leak, which was an issue.
  • To solve this problem, we have proposed ABC Seal.
  • As a result, the cleaning effect was improved and leakage into the atmosphere was reduced to an extremely small amount.
Supports rough accuracy such as shaft runout
  • The ABC Seal follows the axis even with rough machine precision thanks to the garter spring function.
  • This keeps the gap with the shaft extremely small, resulting in an extremely small amount of leakage.
Replace the seal without disassembling the device
  • ABC Seal is a split ring, so it can be replaced without disassembling the equipment.
  • This helps reduce maintenance costs and contributes to lower maintenance costs.
